There is no praise that can be showered on the passing of this man by the court of public opinion.

He knew what he was doing as a learned man but yet grossly violated the Oath And Affirmation of Office he took as a Judge as provided for in the Sixth Schedule of the Federal Constitution which states:

“I Augustine Paul, having been appointed as a Judge of the High Court of Malaya do solemnly swear that I will faithfully discharge my duties in that office to the best of my ability, that I will bear true faith and allegiance to Malaysia, and will preserve, protect and defend the Constitution.”

Contrary, to the “solemn” oath that Augustine Paul took, he abused his powers and made a mockery of the due process of the law.

In this respect may we borrow a quotation from Rudyard Kipling: that is, “For the sin they do by two and two they must pay for one by one.”

And that is the only fitting remark that can be given to the passing of Augustine Paul by all the standards of our charitableness.
